Jeff Mahoney

Director of Market Analytics

Jeff is passionate about technology and data. He joined Amerex in 2017 as the Director of Market Analytics where he will be responsible for performing analysis on various energy markets, creating reports and models based on that analysis, and using his expertise in data systems and utilities help add value and drive excellence. He holds a MBA from Colorado State University with a graduate certificate in Business Intelligence.

Prior to joining Amerex, Jeff performed a variety of roles in the energy and utility industry. He started his journey as a nuclear electronics technician in the U.S Navy where he served aboard the USS Enterprise, CVN-65. From there, Jeff operated a variety of power plants including nuclear, natural gas, and renewables. While in the renewables industry Jeff led an effort to establish a day ahead energy marketing initiative, consolidated data management and remote operations through a cloud based renewable asset management platform, and the implementation of a business intelligence and analytics service. He most recently provided data management and analysis guidance and expertise to a number of Fortune 100 companies as a manager for Accenture.

Outside of Amerex, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is an avid supporter of local veteran’s initiatives and a loyal Houston Texans fan.

My friends call me Jeff.

I was born in Monterey, California.

I attended college at Colorado State University.

My first job was PC sales at Circuit City.

When I have free time I like to spend time with my family.

My day is not complete until I have seen my wife and children.

One word I would use to describe myself is motivated.

One word my friends would use to describe me is easy-going.

My favorite thing about working at Amerex is the people and their passion for helping their clients.

My favorite musician is Dave Matthews.

My favorite movie is Boondock Saints.

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because you get a chance to visit with family and reflect on why you’re thankful.

My favorite quote is “When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.”

If I could go back in time I would like to meet Nikola Tesla.

My hero/idol is Elon Musk because he’s not afraid to have an idea and chase.

If I could rid the world of one thing, it would be complacency.

One modern convenience I could not live without is electricity.

The best day of my life was when my children were born.

If I won the lottery I would take my family on an extended vacation traveling the world.

My dream vacation spot is Ovalle, Chile.

I strongly believe that you get out of life what you put into it.
